"Hiring Santi Private Nursing was probably my best idea with regard to my post op experience.
Not only was Afua communicative prior to my surgery date, she provided helpful links and guides to purchases I might want to make, she stayed in contact with my Dr.’s office and husband the day of, and provided great help once we were home. Having her with me for the couple of nights was such a relief for both myself and my husband. Afua was able to focus on making sure I was eating, taking care of myself and healing, while my husband was able to focus on making sure our kids stayed within their routines. Moreover, I don’t do well under anesthesia (never have) and Afua took my blood pressure regularly, made sure I was eating what I should be, managed my medications and really provided me and my family with such a peace of mind. The care begins with the first conversation, the consultation. Nurse Afua was able to answer every question I had with confidence and reassurance that I would be in safe hands under her care. I even learned what to expect after my procedure. Leading up to my surgery she was in contact with me, provided a list of needs and made sure she had all prevalent information for the day of surgery. She was there when I woke up from surgery ensuring I was stable enough to go home. Her stay with me was extremely comforting. She was very attentive but not overbearing. She consistently checked my vitals and when things were off, she had me make changes to get my vitals to a safe zone. Nurse Afua genuinely cares about her patients and it is apparent with the care she provides. She was very personable and easy to talk to, I felt comfortable with her being in my space. I would recommend her services to anyone in need of nursing assistance. The only disappointment was not being able to have her with me longer. Afua provided very attentive care and most appreciated is that she will answer medical questions after the care is over. For me, I can’t get the PA to respond to my questions in a timely way, so I ask Afua. "I reached out to Santi Private Nursing as my first choice for post op care, but given how popular they are I was not expecting them to have availability at such short notice - but she did!
Because I had never hired a private nurse I did not know what to expect, but I knew I made the right choice once I spoke to Afua the first time. She was there to pick me up right after surgery and communicated with my mother throughout the whole process. She took amazing care of me, ensuring I took my beds on schedule, ate and slept properly, checked my temperature/blood pressure, and just made sure I was good in every aspect imaginable. Because of her care, I never got “stiff” or felt much pain. I felt an extra level of comfort knowing she was able to communicate directly with my surgeon on my behalf in the event anything happened out of the ordinary. In her care, I felt like I had an extension of the hospital at home with me. As a surgery newbie I was a bit nervous about this entire process, but Afua had such an amazing and warm energy.
